Myofascial Cupping Therapy (30 mins)
Myofascial Cupping Therapy is a treatment that uses a combination of massage strokes and negative pressure to lift, separate, and stretch underlying soft tissues.
Cupping helps to create space for the underlying tight muscle to lay down and relax. It also helps bring blood flow to the area in need. Blood carries important nutrients which help with tissue healing. At Soma Haus, we use myofascial decompression to address compensatory movement patterns. This is done by adding movement with treatment. Movement can be in the form of sliding the cups over the necessary tissue or leaving the cups static while moving body parts.
Myofascial Massage (50 mins)
This massage follows a systematic approach to your body and health. Therapists will focus on different layers of muscle tissue, progressively working superficial to deep in order to help you release chronic patterns of tension in the body and improve overall mobility. Therapists utilise a variety of manual techniques such as quick brushes on skin, slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, by either following or crossing over the muscle fibres, fascia, tendons and lymph vessels. Some oils or creams may be used to ease friction on the skin.
These sessions do not have an assessment element and are intended to complement your existing recovery program with other therapists and healthcare practitioners. Please wear something loose and comfortable. For female clients, please avoid leggings and tight clothing as therapist will be contacting the skin directly.
Naturopathy and Nutrition Consultation (60/90mins)
Consult with a Naturopathic Doctor and Nutritionist to address a variety of acute and chronic conditions or simply improve your overall wellbeing. Naturopathic medicine is a distinct field of complementary medicine that blends traditional forms of therapy with modern science. On your first consultation, your naturopathic doctor will ask about your presented symptoms, lifestyle and diet, as well as your medical history. From there, they will design a treatment path to facilitate natural healing, which can range from detoxification, supplement guidance, dietary changes to avoid unhealthy foods, or practicing relaxation techniques to remove underlying stress.
Nervous System & Heart Rate Variability Consultation (30 mins)
This consultation will use technology and individual surveys to help you better understand your stress response, improve your HRV and overall health. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is an important indicator of health and fitness. It is a measure of the adaptability and resilience of your nervous system. Therapists will discuss your health history and work together with you to curate a personal health plan to effectively improve your nervous system resilience. This session will give you insight into suitable practices you can progressively work with to down-regulate your nervous system from stress to calm and focus.
Shiatsu Acupressure Massage (75 mins)
Shiatsu massage (also known as Acupressure Massage) is a dynamic manual therapy originating in Japan, which uses the power of touch, pressure and gentle stretching techniques to balance the body’s energy system, your emotions and the functions of your internal organs. Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (like acupuncture), this massage can help in a wide range of conditions – from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health. It is a deeply relaxing, yet invigorating therapy and regular sessions can help to prevent the build up of stress in our daily lives. It also works to improve your overall health by affecting the body’s natural regulation, internal energy system and circulation.
Through this massage therapy, there is often an increased range of motion and improved coordination. There may also be some assisted-stretching techniques and acupressure techniques used to restore muscle and bone structure that will give you the most therapeutic benefit according to your individual needs.
Somatic Experiencing® & Psychotherapy
Combining Somatic Experiencing — a body–based method of resolving trauma — and Psychotherapy, this practice can help clients make deep seated changes in personality and emotional development. Trauma impacts physical health, mental health, learning, education, and multiple aspects of an individual’s life. Through this approach, our Psychotherapist can help people heal from trauma and stress disorders so that they can form better relationships and relieve troubling symptoms.
Vibrational Sound Therapy & Breathwork (50 mins)
Therapists will work with your personal health goals and utilise the power of your own breath and Himalayan Singing bowls to effectively calibrate your nervous system and improve your Heart Rate Variability (HRV). HRV is an indicatory of nervous system health and your body’s ability to withstand stressors. These sessions are tailored to help you create a balance in your mind and body system, laying the ground for healing and resolution to occur. For many of us, our body’s built-in stress management system is in overdrive. With a nervous system chronically stuck in fight/flight/freeze mode, your body is not receiving adequate time to rest and recover from everyday stressors which is why there is a growing trend of lifestyle diseases.
